Before the modern times, many
thought the cause of Impotence was psychological but after research,
tests etc the causes were found to be more physical than mental.
Iimpotence refers to a man's consistent inability to get or maintain
an erection that is sufficient to have satisfactory sex. It does
not mean a lack of sexual interest or desire, and the man with erectile
dysfunction may or may not be able to have an orgasm or to ejaculate.
Erectile dysfunction can occur at any age and does not refer to
the occasional difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection that
all men experience at some time.
Doctors prefer to use the term erectile dysfunction instead of
impotence. A man's sexual function involves more than an erection
of his penis, and the term impotence often carries a lot of negative
implications. For ease of reading, this topic will use the term
erection problems to refer to erectile dysfunction.
